The owners of this home contacted Lynn Gregory after appreciating her work on a friend’s garden. The project was to revitalize this classic ranch now nestled among large new constructions. The task was to create a new and inviting entry path and to enlarge their existing patio for better entertaining space.
The basic and somewhat uninspired view of the home has now become a lush, memorable garden. First the plain concrete walkway was removed and a newly designed winding brick path with a raised brick planter bed was laid in its place. This allowed for full garden beds to be planted along its curves. Interesting varieties of dwarf specimen trees such as Sgt. Tina Crabs, Tanyosho Pine and Japanese Maples were incorporated for their foliage and seasonal colors. An abundance of colorful perennials and shrubs roses added a touch of interest with varying blooming schedules and textures.
To make better use of the patio area meant removing an overgrown and messy Crab. Lynn found the existing brick barbeque charming and encouraged the owners to let her repurpose it into a charming planter. A new outdoor gas grill was installed and the space became an outdoor oasis for entertaining. Perennial beds were planted around the new wall of the patio to soften the setting and add more color.
Chelsea Gardens continues to add to the overall garden plans of the property and has participated in yearly projects including landscaping the back yard when a new garage was added.
